Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and were in communication with the league office.

The organization did not mention Rice by name in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this season following an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
